The challenge for South African educators and teachers is to keep learning and updating ourselves with the latest technology and skills so that we can become effective.
Becoming effective requires more than just teaching
One way to keep up with technology is to research the best international delivery teaching techniques to make learning more dynamic, interesting and effective for learners to absorb and retain this knowledge to be applied in the real world.
There are many and the best alternatives to do this. It means teachers must at least possess one or two computer literacy skills and resources to apply in the learning environment.
These skills should form part of the learning and teaching culture, because technology is constantly evolving and provides enough scope for teachers to expand while grow to enhance their teaching skills.
Lack of technology resources should not be a hindrance
Often the most common excuses teachers and schools find as an hindrance from taking up the challenge of using technology as an effective implementation teaching tool varies from one school or teacher to another. Township schools don't seem to either have enough money or budget to build "computer labs" or enough teachers for this purpose. However, also lack of parental cooperation and community support to make our schools offer excellence has become just part of the bigger problem.
One school will complain about not having time and resources to cope with school work. Another school will have a different problem or approach all together. By the way, there are solutions to every problem in LIFE. "Will Power", "Dedication" and "Commitment" perhaps even "Passion" for excellence is South Africa's township school biggest dilemma by becoming complicit.
How about hiring "Technical Computer Experts" and "Qualified Teaching Assistants" to support teachers' efforts? There is no doubt in mind that South Africa has technically competent people even retired computer experts and business managers to do this on an ad hoc basis?
Solutions for poor cashflow requires creative crowdfunding
This might sound too much of work for the school to handle or deal with, but quiet honestly it shouldn't be. We "Private-Lesson-Tutor" has strategies in place to help and assist schools with programs. Why should fundraising matter? This should be a quarterly or yearly part of the school's business plan that can help curb the school poor financial status to having a healthy stable cashflow.
